Gen. Hun Manet: CPP Youth Must Unite Hearts in the Battle for Democracy

PURSAT: Chief of the Cambodian People’s Party youth division, General Hun Manet, said that the CPP’s primary mission is to unite the hearts of the people in the battle for democracy. He reiterated the importance of loyal activism to a CPP youth group yesterday, encouraging them to do their part fulfilling the party’s vision.

Speaking to a crowd CPP youth activists in Pursat province on June 19, Gen. Hun Manet stated that as the leader of the party’s youth, it is his duty to inspire them to support the righteous cause of the party so that it can win a landslide victory in the battle for democracy. He commended the party’s efforts to serve the people for over 40 years and highlighted its success over the last five years in saving Cambodian lives, especially in the face of Covid-19.

He stressed the need of people of all ages, at the top and bottom, working together towards a comprehensive action plan to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. He also called on Cambodian youth activists to be loyal to the nation, religion, and King, in accordance with CPP principles. He said the youth must be respectful and appreciate the heroism and sacrifice of previous generations while maintaining the spirit of love, peace and national unity.

Gen. Hun Manet reminded the crowd that Cambodia’s peace was hard-won and could be lost at any time. He specifically referenced the removal of Prince Norodom Sihanouk on March 18, 1970, which began a series of events that would take Cambodia down the dark path of war that would last for decades. He noted that the word "peace" can be heard so often that some may underestimate its value.
